These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of cardiffresearchlab.com and any services offered by Cardiff Research Lab (“CRL”). By using the site or purchasing any product or service, you agree to these Terms.
Use of the Site
You may use this site for lawful purposes only. You agree not to use the site to transmit harmful, offensive, or unlawful content, to attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the site or its infrastructure, or to interfere with other users' use of the site.
Purchase Terms — Prints and Products
All print and product sales are final. We do not accept returns except in the case of damage during shipping (see our FAQ for the damage claim process).
Prices are listed in USD and are subject to change without notice. Orders are confirmed at the price displayed at the time of purchase.
Expedition Deposit and Payment Terms
Expedition registration requires a 25% deposit at the time of booking. The remaining balance is due 60 days before the departure date.
Deposits are non-refundable after 30 days from the registration date. If you cancel more than 60 days before departure, any balance payments beyond the deposit will be refunded in full. Cancellations within 60 days of departure forfeit all payments.
If CRL cancels an expedition for any reason, all payments — including deposits — will be refunded in full within 10 business days.
Trip Cancellation Policy
CRL reserves the right to cancel any expedition at any time due to safety concerns, insufficient enrollment, weather, force majeure events, or other circumstances beyond our control. In the event of cancellation by CRL, participants will receive a full refund of all payments made. CRL is not responsible for travel costs, lost wages, or other consequential expenses incurred by participants.
Participants are strongly encouraged to purchase travel insurance that covers trip cancellation.
Participant Responsibility and Risk
Expeditions involve physical activity and inherent risks including but not limited to: surfing, horseback riding, dirt biking, backcountry skiing, hiking, and exposure to natural environments. By registering for an expedition, you acknowledge these risks and represent that you are physically capable of participating in the activities described.
CRL is not responsible for injuries, accidents, or losses sustained during an expedition. Participants may be required to sign a separate liability waiver before departure.
Intellectual Property
All photographs, written content, design, and documentation published on cardiffresearchlab.com are the property of Cardiff Research Lab unless otherwise noted. No content may be reproduced, distributed, or used for commercial purposes without prior written permission from CRL.
If you submit photographs or writing to CRL (via the field form or otherwise), you grant CRL a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to publish that content in the expedition record and on the site. You retain ownership of your work.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Cardiff Research Lab's liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or from your use of the site or services is limited to the amount you paid to CRL in the 12 months preceding the claim. CRL is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages of any kind.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in San Diego County, California, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts.
Changes to These Terms
CRL may update these Terms at any time. The “Last updated” date will reflect any changes. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
